Jones County Community Closet
The Jones County Community Closet is a community sharing resource developed by Jones County Consolidated Human Services (Health Department & Department of Social Services). The Closet collects donated clothing and puts those items back into our community.

The Community Closet is primarily offered through regularly held pop-up shopping events, where Jones County citizens—and, when inventory allows, residents from other counties—may shop at no cost for donated clothing.

In addition to scheduled events, the Community Closet serves as an immediate response resource for time-sensitive situations, including:

• Foster care and kinship placements
• Families and individuals impacted by disasters such as house fires or sudden           displacement
• Other urgent circumstances where quick access to clothing and essentials               supports safety and stability
  
  

All items are 100% donated, and no tax dollars are used to provide clothing. Grant funding has supported storage and organization solutions to ensure the Closet remains well-managed and ready to respond when needs arise.

The Community Closet operates through strong collaboration among county departments, community partners, and volunteers, and may be utilized in coordination with EMS, law enforcement, and other responders as part of a broader county support network.

The program reflects Jones County’s commitment to community care, shared resources, and meeting everyday and unexpected needs with dignity and respect.

What We Accept:

Clean clothing (free of stains and holes)
Belts and shoes
Sporting equipment and athletic uniforms
No bedding, please

Bonus help: If you’re able, please sort donations by size and gender and label the bag. This makes it much quicker for our staff to get items into the right places.
