This advisory committee was set up to help the Jones County Senior Center and the Jones County Aging Coordinator determine the needs of older adults in the County. The appointment terms are unlimited for this committee.
This three-member board has the following powers:
§ 18B‑701. Powers and duties of local ABC boards.
(a) Powers. – A local board shall have authority to:
(1) Buy, sell, transport, and possess alcoholic beverages as necessary for the operation of its ABC stores;
(2) Adopt rules for its ABC system, subject to the approval of the Commission;
(3) Hire and fire employees for the ABC system;
(4) Designate one employee as manager of the ABC system and determine his responsibilities;
(5) Require bonds of employees as provided in the rules of the Commission;
(6) Operate ABC stores as provided in Article 8;
(7) Issue purchase‑transportation permits as provided in Article 4;
(8) Employ local ABC officers or make other provision for enforcement of ABC laws as provided in Article 5;
(9) Borrow money as provided in G.S. 18B‑702;
(10) Buy and lease real and personal property, and receive property bequeathed or given, as necessary for the operation of the ABC system;
(11) Invest surplus funds as provided in G.S. 18B‑702;
(12) Dispose of property in the same manner as a city council may under Article 12 of Chapter 160A of the General Statutes; and
(13) Perform any other activity authorized or required by the ABC law.
(b) Duties. – A local board shall have the duty to comply with all rules adopted by the Commission pursuant to this Chapter and meet all standards for performance and training established by the Commission pursuant to G.S. 18B‑203(a)(20) and (21). Failure to comply with Commission rules shall be cause for removal. This is a five-member board. Four members are appointed by the State Board of Elections based on recommendations of the parties. The chairman is appointed by the Governor. The Civilian Military Community Coucil includes one Commissioner representative from Jones County.
The purpose of the Civilian Military Community Council shall be to promote goodwill and unity between the military and civilian components of the community and that such shall be accomplished through the adoption and implementation of policy matters of joint interest. The exchange of ideas and information between the military and civilian communities provides for an improved relationship.
The Coastal Carolina Regional Airport Authority Board includes one representative from Jones County. The position is a non voting one and the appointment term is three-years.
The members of the Committee of 100 are elected by the Committee of 100 in March of each year. The Jones County Board of Commissioners does not appoint this board. Appointment terms are one-year.

There are four Jones County positions appointed to the Down East RPO TAC Committee. Appointment terms are two-years and require one Jones County Commissioner appointment, one municipal elected official appointment, and one alternate for each. The East Carolina Behavioral Health Board includes two members from Jones County. One member is a Jones County Commissioner which is appointed by the Jones County Board of Commissioners. The appointed commissioner serves until which time another commissioner is appointed in their place. The commissioner representing Jones County will recommend the citizen appointment to the Behavioral Board and they vote on the recommendation. The East Carolina Workforce Development Board includes four members from Jones County. Appointment terms are two-years.
The Eastern Carolina Council of Governments includes two Jones County members to include one commissioner representative and one citizen appointment. Appointment terms are one-year.
The Jones County Economic Development Commission is an eight member board. Appointment terms do not expire.
The Eastern Carolina Regional Housing Authority includes one Jones County representative serving a five-year term.
The Extension Advisory Council is a seventeen member board. Appointment terms do no expire. The board is utilized to determine program focus of Extension, advocate on behalf of the Extension in the county and to hold Extension accountable for programming efforts. The County committee is responsible for administering commodity and conservation programs approved for the county in accordance with federal and state policies through field office personnel and as directed by the various programs, handbooks including reviewing, approving, certifying, forms, reports, and other documents as required. The Jones County Department of Social Services Board is a five member board, two of which are appointed by the Jones County Board of Commissioners. Appointment terms are three-years. For more information please contact Jones County DSS at 252-448-2581.
This is a three member board, however the Jones County Board of Commissioners only appoint one member.
The Jones County Library Board is a six member board. Appointment terms are six-years.

The Jones County Nursing and Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee is a seven member board. Appointment terms are one-year for the first appointment and three-years for consecutive appointments. The Jones County Recreation Board is responsible for programming, coaching, and guidelines for the Jones County Recreation Program.

The Jones County representative for North Carolina’s Eastern Region Commission is Larry Meadows. The appointment term does not expire for this position.

The Regional Aging Advisory Council (RAAC) is a three member board. Appointment terms are three-years.
The Voluntary Agriculture District Board is a seven member board responsible for reviewing and approving all VAD applications, and advising commissioners on projects, programs or issues affecting the economy or activities within the County that will affect agriculture districts. Appointment terms are three-years. Board members are not appointed by the Jones County Board of Commissioners.
