PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
N.C. Gen. Stat. §153A-302(c)
Please take notice that on May 18, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., Jones County will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of receiving public comments on the proposed creation of a fire protection service district pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. §153A-301 et seq. The public hearing will be held in the Commissioners’ Room in the Jones County Administration Building, located at 110 Market St., Trenton, North Carolina.
A report, required by N.C. Gen. Stat. §153A-302(b), containing: 1) a map of the proposed district, 2) a statement showing that the proposed district meets the standards set out in N.C. Gen. Stat. §153A-302(a), and 3) a plan for providing fire protection services within the district, is available for public inspection in the office of the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners at 110 Market St., Trenton, North Carolina.
The proposed fire protection service district includes all real property located within Jones County except the Oak Grove Marine Corps Outlying Landing Field. Inclusion of real property located within the corporate boundaries of Jones County municipalities in the fire protection service district is contingent on the governing board of the respective municipality’s approval of the municipality’s inclusion. Below is a map of the proposed fire protection service district:
Description of Proposed District.
The Proposed District shall consist of the geographic area described as follows:
All of the real property comprising Jones County, North Carolina, less and except
the real property depicted on the map attached as Exhibit A to this Resolution, said real
property bearing Jones County parcel identification number 542617050600 as of the date
of this Resolution.
The inclusion of real property lying within the corporate limits of Jones County
municipalities is contingent on the governing board of each municipality’s approval of a
resolution authorizing said municipality’s inclusion in the Proposed District.
