Here at Jones County Regional Water System, our goal is to provide you with clean and safe drinking water at a reasonable cost. To do this, we abide by the rules and regulations established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. To provide equitable distribution of water production cost and to safeguard the integrity of our potable water supply, the Jones County Board of Commissioners has established the following guidelines for all customers.
II. Multiple Hook-ups: Each residence or business utilizing the county water system must be metered separately. Having more than one residence or business supplied by one meter is in violation of the water system policy. Failure to comply with this policy may result in suspension of water service until situation is corrected.
III. Meter Accessibility: The accessibility of your meter is very important; the water system policy requires that all meters be un-obstructed and accessible at all times. Therefore: gates, fences, shrubbery, pets etc… shall not hinder the meter reader’s access to your meter. Failure to comply with this policy may result in suspension of water service until situation is corrected.
IV. Cross-connection: A cross-connection occurs when a public water supply line is linked to a water supply that is not controlled by the water system. This most often occurs when a home owner switches from a shallow (private) well to the county water system. There shall be no lines that would allow water to flow to your residence/business from both the county system and the well at the same time. Failure to comply with this policy will result in suspension of water service until situation is corrected. THIS POLICY WILL BE STRONGLY ENFORCED.
V. Billing: All bills are due when rendered and become delinquent (20) twenty days thereafter. Service is subject to be discontinued when (2) two bills become delinquent. Payment for one month (oldest bill) will be accepted up until actual meter read day; on meter read day total balance due plus LATE PENALTY FEE of $50.00 will be required to maintain water service. Failure to receive bill shall not prevent bill from becoming delinquent or relieve customer from payment.
